Leah graduated from Penn State in 2022 with degrees in political science and journalism. She engaged in various course required dialogues throughout undergrad and greatly admired the thoughtful deliberation present in Soc 119. She completed Soc 119 during the spring semester of her senior year. Though she was asked on numerous occasions to become a facilitator, her time at Penn State was quickly coming to a close. (Or so she thought) Upon graduating, Leah furthered her commitment to sociological work as an employed hotline counselor and legal advocate at a nonprofit domestic violence shelter that seeks to provide comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, juvenile offenders and other Title 18 violent crimes. Through volunteering at ENGin, a program that aids young Ukrainians in improving their English fluency and engaging in cross-cultural exchanges, she was reminded of the large-scale impact programs like World and Conversation have on fostering genuine human relations at a global level. Motivated to be a part of such a dynamic and companionate team while promoting a unique and diverse opportunity for the Penn State community, she has become an assistant to Operations Manager Michelle Frisby. She seeks to aid in maintaining internal organization and efficiency as to ensure WinC’s promotion of authentic public diplomacy.
